UCK Gdańsk Becomes First Hospital in Poland to Deploy Vetro

VitVio partners with University Clinical Centre Gdańsk to bring its 3D-native AI system to Poland’s operating rooms for the first time

  • University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk is the first hospital in Poland to deploy Vetro, VitVio's 3D-native surgical operating system
  • The partnership builds on a growing list of hospital partners in the US, UK, Europe and Latin America

14 October, 2026: VitVio is bringing its AI-powered surgical operating system, Vetro, to Poland for the first time through a new partnership with University Clinical Centre in Gdańsk (UCK), one of the country's largest and most advanced public teaching hospitals. The rollout will begin in selected UCK operating rooms, with plans to extend Vetro across the surgical department in due course.

Supporting clinicians to focus on cases

As the world’s first 3D-native, AI-powered surgical operating system, Vetro keeps operating rooms running smoothly and takes the administrative burden off surgical teams. In teaching hospitals that gives more time for training the surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses who go on to work across the health system. Every hour lost to paperwork, delays or chasing information is an hour taken from patients and trainees alike.

Each operating room is fitted with a multi-camera and ambient sensing system that continuously captures 3D data, which VitVio's Spatial Context Engine turns into a live geometric model of the room. Vetro is designed to understand the room without identifying the people in it. The system removes all identifiable data in real time and creates no biometric data such as face or voice templates, and instead only recognises surgical activities.

From that shared picture of who and what is in the room, and what stage a case is at, Vetro's AI agents log surgical stages automatically, flag delays as they happen, coordinate staff between cases and will have the capability to track instrument use to cut waste and produce operative notes in real time. And because Vetro understands the whole room rather than a single task, it works as an operating system for the full perioperative environment, not a point solution.

For UCK, the result is more efficient use of operating room time so that more procedures can be scheduled in the same OR hours, with less overtime, more predictability and shorter waiting lists.

Dr Adam Sudoł, VP of Medical Logistics, UCK Gdańsk said:  "As one of Poland's leading teaching hospitals, we want our surgical teams focused on patients and on training the clinicians who come after them, not on paperwork. We're the first hospital in the country to bring VitVio’s system into the operating room at this level, and what we learn in these first rooms will shape how we run the rest, and how we continue to set the standard for surgical care across Poland."

Jakub Kraszewski, CEO, UCK Gdańsk, said: "As a university teaching hospital, we want to set the direction for modern medicine in Poland. The deployment of Vetro is an example of technology that does not replace people, but supports medical staff in their everyday work. We believe that intelligent AI-based solutions will play an increasingly important role in how healthcare is organised in the coming years, and UCK wants to play an active part in that transformation."

Maks Kozarzewski, Co-Founder and COO, VitVio, said: "UCK Gdańsk trains many of the surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses who go on to work across Poland, so what happens in its operating rooms shapes surgical care far beyond Gdańsk. Every minute in a surgical suite carries clinical and financial weight, and too many are lost to paperwork and avoidable delays. Our job is to give that time back to clinicians, their patients and the next generation they're training. With Polish roots in our founding team, starting in Poland with a hospital of UCK's standing means a great deal to us."

UCK Gdańsk is the latest in a growing number of VitVio deployments across the US, Europe, and the UK. In July, VitVio opened access to Vetro for hospitals and health systems across the US, Europe, Latin America, the UK and the Middle East and further announcements are due to follow in the coming months.

About UCK Gdańsk

University Clinical Centre (UCK) is one of Poland's largest highly specialised teaching hospitals, affiliated with the Medical University of Gdańsk. Patients benefit from a highly specialised clinical team, innovative treatment methods and medical equipment of the highest international standard. UCK offers a full range of medical services across almost every field of medicine, for both adults and children, with a particular focus on surgery, oncology, cardiology and neurology. The hospital provides advanced diagnostics and treatment, a wide range of surgical procedures, including robotic-assisted surgery, comprehensive rehabilitation and palliative care. UCK is also a thriving transplant centre, performing heart, kidney, bone marrow and cornea transplants, as well as lung and liver transplants.

About VitVio

VitVio uses computer vision and ambient sensing to digitise operating rooms in 3D, in real time, providing clarity on who is doing what, when, where and why during surgery. AI agents then handle the routine tasks – automatically logging surgical phases, coordinating staff, preparing operative notes and flagging delays – so that clinicians can focus on what matters most, the patient. Founded in 2024 by Thomas Knox (CEO), Dr Peter Rennert (CTO), Maks Kozarzewski (COO) and Aleks Pajewski (CPO), VitVio has raised $10M in total funding, including an $8M seed round closed in October 2025 led by Bek Ventures with participation from LDV Capital and Balnord. Angel investors include ElevenLabs co-founder Mati Staniszewski. The company operates across the US, Europe and Latin America. www.vitvio.com

Why Operating Rooms Need 3D Spatial Intelligence.

Modern surgery is a spatial problem. Surgeons operate within complex three-dimensional anatomy where millimeters matter. They navigate vessels, tissue planes, and instruments in confined spaces while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team. Yet much of the digital infrastructure surrounding the operating room still interprets the environment as if it were two dimensional.
